I had a primary rhinoplasty ten weeks ago. I love the bridge of my nose, but my concern is my columela which is “hanging” to where you can see the redder skin inside my nose and I hate it…It did not hang before at all. I am in my 40’s and have thicker skin. What are the chances that this columela problem is swelling after 10 weeks? I am over 6000 miles from my own surgeon so I went to a new doctor today in Shanghai (I am from the US but work in China) and he said it could be either swelling or something with the way the incision was closed (it was an open rhino) Anyway, I had a steroid injection today. I notice the skin on my nose is very pale now. Will it really take weeks to see the results? If this injection helps, should I get another one? How long apart are they usually spaced? He (this new doctor) also said that if the columela is still “hanging” around 2 months from now, he could do a minor surgical procedure to raise it up. Does that sound right to you? I can see what he means about how it was closed. Where the incision was is where it poofs out the most, almost in a little point. Also, on the inside around the incision, there seems to be a lot of scar tissue.
